Let's Read!

In our classroom, we are working on a project with Scholastic to help save 100 acres of the Rainforest in northern Equador (the Choco Forest) by reading. What better time to introduce some great books you can read online! (While you are learning about math concepts, that is.)

Feeling frustrated with your child’s homework? Shocked that your child is coming home saying things like “I like using decomposing and compensation to solve separating equations?” In the words of dear Alice in Wonderland, “it would be nice if something would make sense.” School is very different today then it was when we were in school. Instead of rote memorization and skill drills, we emphasize number sense and problem solving skills. The classroom no longer consists of rows of desks with silent students copying vocabulary words from the dictionary or doing 1-99 odd on page 213 of their math textbook. Learning is messy, loud, and most of all fun. This blog was created to ease your homework stress and give students extra support at home through various websites and activities.
